The Romanian construction sector recorded a 3.1% growth in the volume of works in March 2025 compared to March 2024, adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).


A particularly robust area of growth was in capital repair works, which saw a surge of 65.2% in adjusted terms. New construction also contributed to the overall expansion, with a 0.6% increase in adjusted terms.

In Q1 2025, the total volume of construction works rose by 13.8% in adjusted terms, when compared to the same period in 2024, driven by capital repair works and new construction.

In terms of construction types, engineering constructions have seen the most substantial growth, with a 14.4% increase compared to March 2024. Non-residential buildings also experienced a 5.0% increase. However, residential buildings saw a decrease of 11.5%.
