Hungary's residential property market has set a new record, with the highest number of transactions made in the last ten years in February. The 14,569 transactions estimated by Duna House shows an 11% growth over February 2020 and an increase of 30% over the also outstanding January 2021 print. The last time we saw more than 14,000 transactions a month was in 2019 in three cases, and only in June 2016 (14,550) before that.

Made with Flourish

Active demand induced by the government's home building programme remains palpable on the market and it is making an ever stronger impact on the number of transactions, as well. Analysts believe the momentum could last into the spring months as well, and between 38,000 and 39,000 homes could change owners in the first quarter.
