A banking consortium granted a €120 million sustainability-related loan to a company in the NEPI Rockcastle, NE Property BV Group.

The loan facility has a repayment period of three years and may be extended for another two years, with an increase option up to €240 million.

The green loan was provided by syndicate led by BRD – Groupe Société Générale S.A. and Garanti BBVA Romania.

Law firm CMS advised the bank syndicate on the loan terms.

NEPI Rockcastle’s property portfolio totaled €5.8 billion at the end of 2020, of which 35% was the share of Romania-based projects. The group manages 54 retail properties (excluding joint venture) in Romania, Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Croatia, Serbia, and Lithuania.

In early July, the company got a separate loan of €73.5 million from International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of World Bank, in a bid to expand its sustainable business infrastructure in Romania.
