Danubius Hotels is adding a new property to its portfolio in Budapest. From 1 October 2026, the current H2 Hotel Budapest will operate under the name Danubius Hotel District V, bringing the chain's total number of hotels to 17. The 157-room city-centre property is located in Budapest's fifth district, close to St Stephen's Basilica, the Hungarian Parliament Building and the Chain Bridge.
The building is owned by LGT Immo Kft., a member of the Austrian ILAG Group, which has entered into a long-term hotel operating agreement with Danubius. Real estate advisory firm Newmark VLK Hungary assisted the owner in selecting the operator. "We saw strong interest in operating the hotel from both domestic and international players, confirming Budapest's status as a European tourism destination. A property in such a central location and in excellent technical condition represents an exceptional long-term investment for owners and a strong expansion opportunity for an experienced operator," said Péter Takács, Managing Director of Newmark VLK Hungary.
"We have been working for a long time to expand our portfolio with a new hotel, so we are particularly pleased to be taking another important step. With Danubius Hotel District V, we are further strengthening our presence in one of Budapest's best city-centre locations," said Balázs Kovács, CEO of Danubius Hotels Zrt. He added that the chain continues to pursue further growth and new opportunities in the Hungarian and international hotel markets.
"We were looking for a hotel operating partner with a stable professional background, significant local market experience and high-quality hotel management expertise. In Danubius, we have found a reliable, long-term partner whose expertise and strong presence in Hungary provide a solid foundation for the hotel's continued successful operation and development," said Éva Zupkó, Managing Director of LGT Immo Kft.
The hotel will transition to Danubius on 1 October while maintaining continuous operations, and its existing team of 20 staff will continue working under the Danubius brand. The expansion reflects the long-term commitment of Danubius's British owner, CP Holdings, to the chain's growth. In recent years, Danubius has invested approximately HUF 50 billion in the development and refurbishment of its hotels. Danubius Hotels Zrt. operates 17 hotels in Hungary under the Danubius Hotels and Ensana brands, as well as the Hilton Budapest, Radisson Blu Béke Hotel Budapest and Hotel Erzsébet City Center Budapest.
